Turtles have started hatching!
The first hatchling was sitting on top of the sand waiting
for me when I opened the box on July 18. Since then, 41 more have poked their
heads out of their shells.
Once a turtle hatches, I wash it clean with tap water, dry
it, and weigh it. I then keep it in a cup of its own. The more curious hatchlings
tend to climb against the sides of their cups and fall on their backs. Every
once in a while I have to flip them back on their feet so they don’t dry out.
